A Chicago Police officer fired a shot at a man who allegedly pointed a weapon at police during a foot chase early Saturday on the South Side.

Officers were chasing a man in the 7800 block of South Ingleside about 2:25 a.m. when the man pulled out a weapon and pointed it at the officers, according to Chicago Police.

An officer fired his weapon, but no one was struck, police said.

The 26-year-old man was taken into custody and a weapon was recovered, police said.

Charges were pending against the man as of Sunday afternoon.
