A motorcyclist was critically injured in a crash early Tuesday in the Brighton Park neighborhood on the Southwest Side.

About 12:15 a.m., the 24-year-old man was driving the bike west in the 4600 block of South Archer when a silver SUV made an illegal U-turn, causing the motorcycle to strike the vehicle, according to Chicago Police.

The motorcyclist was taken in critical condition to Mount Sinai Hospital, police said. No other injuries were reported.

The 20-year-old man driving the SUV was cited for making an illegal U-turn and not having insurance, police said.
