SHARE Report: Yankees interested in Starlin Castro

According to multiple reports, the Cubs are open to trading Starlin Castro, and it appears they might have found a team interested in the infielder.

The New York Daily News reported Friday that the Yankees have been in discussions with the Cubs regarding a trade involving Castro.

According to the report, the Yankees would play Castro at second base, where they currently have the platoon of Dustin Ackley and Rob Refsnyder.

Ackley batted .231 this season with the Mariners and Yankees and Refsnyder batted .302 in 16 big-league games.

In a bit of a disappointing season, Castro batted .265 with 11 home runs and 69 RBI in 2015 and was moved from shortstop to second base.

The three-time All-Star is owed $38 million over the next four years.

But according to CBS’ Jon Heyman, the Yankees are more interested in pitching than they are in Castro.

“They dont mind Ackley/Refsnyder combo,” Heyman tweeted Friday.

The Cubs are also interested in pitching, and might be willing to part with a young bat in order to acquire it.
