Children found alone in Lake View alley

A 4-year-old boy and 5-year-old girl were found alone in an alley Monday night in the Lake View neighborhood on the North Side.

About 11:45 p.m., a citizen found the children in an alley in the 800 block of West Newport, police said.

Officers found the children’s father inside a residence on that block, police said. The children were taken in good condition to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center as a precautionary measure.

No charges or citations have been issued, but the state’s Department of Children & Family Services has been notified.
