Man shot to death in Rogers Park identified

A man who was shot to death late Monday in the Rogers Park neighborhood on the North Side has been identified.

Giovani Salgado, 21, was found sitting in the passenger seat of a parked vehicle in the 6800 block of North Ridge about 11:50 p.m., according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Salgado had been shot in the chest and back, and was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:01 a.m. Tuesday, according to police and the medical examiner’s office. He lived in the 6400 block of North Damen.

An autopsy found he died of a gunshot wound to the chest and his death was ruled a homicide.
