For the second time in three seasons, the Bears’ Lamarr Houston suffered a season-ending knee injury.

Sources confirmed Tuesday that the outside linebacker torn his ACL against the Eagles on Tuesday night. Bears coach John Fox said earlier Tuesday that the team was awaiting an MRI.

“I don’t want to report something and they see something new on the MRI,” he said. “And we don’t have those results back yet.”

The Bears anticipated the worst after Monday night’s examination. Immediately after the game, Fox characterized the injury as “substantial.”

Houston did not start in either game this season, but was part of the Bears’ rotation at outside linebacker. He signed a five-year, $35 million deal in 2014, and switched to outside linebacker a year later, earning the praise of coaches .

His first season in Chicago, Houston tore his knee celebrating a sack of the Patriots’ Jimmy Garoppolo.
