IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) — Matt VandeBerg, Iowa’s leading receiver, is out indefinitely after injuring his right foot Monday during practice.

Hawkeyes coach Kirk Ferentz announced VandeBerg’s injury Tuesday, though he didn’t get into further specifics.

VandeBerg caught 19 passes for 284 yards and three touchdowns, all team highs, through four games.

The loss of VandeBerg, a senior and quarterback C.J. Beathard’s most trusted receiver, will likely be a big blow to an offense that has scored just 35 points in its last two games.

The Hawkeyes (3-1) host Northwestern (1-3) on Saturday.
