The big fear for any team when its players play in any non-NHL game — whether it’s a training-camp scrimmage, a preseason game, or an international tournament — is an injury. And on the first night of the World Cup of Hockey’s pre-tournament schedule, the Blackhawks might have dodged a big one.

Marian Hossa was taken to a Quebec City hospital for X-rays following Team Europe’s 4-0 loss to Team North America on Thursday night, according to TVA Sports’ Renaud Lavoie. But Hossa joined his teammates for their flight to Montreal, according to ESPN’s Craig Custance.

Hossa played just 10:47 in the game, and sat out the entire third period.

The 37-year-old Hossa is entering his 18th full NHL season. He played in 64 games last season, after playing all 82 in 2014-15.
