Two women were killed in a crash early Sunday in the South Deering neighborhood on the Far South Side, police said.

The two women, both 26 years old, were in a car traveling south about 4:45 a.m. in the 10300 block of South Commercial Avenue when it crashed into the back of a parked semi-truck, according to Chicago Police.

Abril Delapaz, of the East Side neighborhood, and Brisa Delapaz-Carvajal, of the Hegewisch neighborhood, were both pronounced dead at 5 a.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office. Autopsies Monday found they died of multiple injuries from the crash.

The police Major Accidents Investigation Unit is investigating the crash.
