Man, 34, shot and killed in Back of the Yards

A man who was shot Monday night in the Back of the Yards neighborhood on the South Side has died.

Eric Bones, 34, who lived in the neighborhood, was walking on the sidewalk when a male walked up to him and demanded his money at gunpoint about 9 p.m. in the 5300 block of South Honore Street, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

The male then fired shots, striking him in the abdomen and right shoulder. He was taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition, police said.

He was pronounced dead at 1:34 a.m. Tuesday at the Cook County Health and Hospital System, according to the medical examiner’s office which confirmed his death Wednesday morning.

Area Central detectives were investigating.
