A 25-year-old woman was shot to death Saturday morning in her apartment in South Chicago Heights.

Nicole De Leon was found dead at 9:28 a.m. in the 2800 block of Chicago Road, according to South Chicago Heights police and the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office. Emergency crews responded after a family friend noticed her apartment door was open and went inside to find De Leon’s body.

An autopsy conducted Sunday found De Leon died from multiple gunshot wounds to the head, and her death was ruled a homicide, the medical examiner’s office said.
