St. Rita’s Kaleb Brown, the top prospect in the state’s Class of 2022, gave an oral commitment to Ohio State on Monday. Brown is currently on a campus visit in Columbus.

Brown is a two-time Sun-Times All-Area selection. He averaged 10.3 yards per carry and scored five touchdowns in the Mustangs’ six games this spring.

He primarily plays running back for St. Rita but is considered a future receiver. Brown caught eight passes for 125 yards and one touchdown this past season.

Brown is a top 60 player in the national Class of 2022 he also had scholarship offers from Alabama and Michigan.

“He’s unbelievable,” St. Rita linebacker Michael Gaughan said after a win against Notre Dame. “I’m really proud of him, how he stepped up this season. He was a little nervous last year as a sophomore but he was a leader this year. He’s going to be something special. It’s his team next year and I can’t wait to see what he does.”

Brown led the Mustangs to a 5-1 season, the only loss was a 7-3 defeat to Loyola in Week 1. It was the only close game the top-ranked, undefeated Ramblers played all season.
