A man was shot while driving in Bronzeville on the South Side Sunday night.

The 29-year-old man was driving in the 200 block of West 47th Street when someone opened fire about 11:45 p.m., striking him in the neck and back, Chicago police said.

The man lost control of his car and jumped a curb, police said.

He was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in critical condition, police said. His name was not yet released.

No one was in custody.

About an hour earlier, a Chicago police officer shot a person in the leg in the 4500 block of South Drexel Avenue.

Details of what led up to the shooting weren’t immediately available. Police said a gun was recovered at the scene.
