Bears president Ted Phillips and chairman George McCaskey will interview GM candidates this week.

Entering Week 2 of their search, the Bears will wait two more days before interviewing Chris Ballard, the candidate considered by many the favorite to land their GM job.

Ballard, the Chiefs’ director of player personnel, will interview with the Bears on Wednesday, according to an NFL Network report.

He’ll be familiar with chairman George McCaskey and president Ted Phillips: he spent 12 years at Halas Hall, the last as the Bears’ director of pro scouting, before leaving in 2013.

The other NFL team with a GM opening, the Jets, are also interested in Ballard.
