Pernell McPhee, the Bears’ major offseason addition, did not practice Thursday. Coach John Fox said the outside linebacker — who signed a five-year deal worth nearly $40 contract — had wrist and knee injuries. Asked for details, Fox said simply that he did not participate.
McPhee was joined by cornerback Tracy Porter (hamstring) and linebacker Jon Bostic (ankle), who did individual rehab work but did not practice.
Sam Acho (illness) and cornerback Sherrick McManis practiced in full, while defensive lineman Ego Ferguson (knee) was limited. Acho — who had his contract terminated Saturday and re-signed Monday — had not participated in full since August.
“I think he showed early, the guy had ball skills,” Fox said. “He was a pretty good pass defender. He was a four-phase starter in the kicking game. He just had good football character and a guy we thought highly enough of to pick for our 53.”
