Is it “offensive” to call the Chicago City Council a “rubber stamp council?”
Heather Sattler, a candidate for alderman in the 38th Ward, thinks so. She thinks coalitions and caucuses are divisive, too, for that matter.

But Ald. Nicholas Sposato, the incumbent in the 36th Ward, says he has no regrets.
“Until people start standing up for what their community wants, it’s a rubber-stamp council,” Sposato said.
The candidates running for the seat on that council being vacated by longtime Ald. Timothy Cullerton met with the Sun-Times editorial board at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 21, ahead of the Chicago municipal election on Feb. 24. They discussed the city’s pension crisis and the issue of converted buildings in the ward housing more people than they were built for, among other issues.
