Looking ahead to the Chicago municipal election on Feb. 24, the Sun-Times editorial board met with the candidates running for alderman in the 5th Ward to talk about the key issues facing their community — and what they’d do to improve things.

The 5th Ward includes South Shore and Hyde Park.
Four candidates participated: Ald. Leslie Hairston, Anne Marie Miles, Jocelyn Hare and Robin Boyd Clark.
Main topics of conversation were economic development, specifically in South Shore along Stony Island. All four candidates also said they would support a push for a trauma center at University of Chicago.
