Zagat.com released its list of Chicago’s Top 50 restaurants on Tuesday.Topping the list is the tony Avec in the West Loop. The website describes it thusly:

You’ll want to ‘try everything’ at Paul Kahan’s ‘always-packed’ West Loop Mediterranean, a ‘foodie-worthy’ ‘best in Chicago’ thanks to ‘absolutely delicious,’ ‘inventive’ small plates including ‘life-changing’ stuffed dates; the ‘minimalist’ digs have communal seats (‘prepare to sit with strangers’), and no reservations often mean ‘long waits,’ but it remains a ‘standard go-to’ when you want to ‘impress.’

In second place, is Grant Achatz’ eclectic, world-class Alinea, followed by Rick Bayless’ iconic Frontera Grill in River North.
