Police responded to Canterbury Park, in the 800 block of Canterbury Drive, at 4:18 p.m. and found a person on the ground with a firearm nearby, according to a statement from Crystal Lake police.

The body was identified as that of 18-year-old Adrian F. Salazar of Crystal Lake, according to a statement from the McHenry County coroner’s office.

Salazar was reported missing after he left his home in the late evening of March 1, police said at the time. He was thought to be in possession of a firearm when he went missing.

An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday, according to the coroner’s office.

There was no public safety threat, and the incident did not involve any students at the elementary school next to the park, police said.
