A motorcyclist died Thursday night from injuries suffered in a northwest Indiana crash.

Timothy Staats, 37, of Lake Station was pronounced dead at 9:28 p.m. at Methodist Hospital Northlake Campus in Gary, Ind., according to a statement from the Lake County coroner’s office.

The crash happened about 8:40 p.m. at 45th Avenue and Broadway in Gary, and involved a motorcycle and a pickup, according to Gary police.

The motorcycle was northbound on Broadway approaching 45th in the outside lane, while the truck was southbound on Broadway and turned left onto 45th Avenue in front of the bike, police said. The motorcycle then struck the front of the truck.

Staats, who lived in the 3700 block of Riverside Drive in Lake Station, Ind., suffered blunt force trauma in a motor vehicle accident at 45th and Broadway in Gary, the coroner’s office said.

The crash remains under investigation, police said.
