George W. Bush: Obama doesn't call me

Former President George W. Bush says that President Barack Obama doesn’t pick up the phone and call him regularly, but don’t worry, Bush says, it “doesn’t hurt my feelings.”

Bush was on Fox and Friends Thursday morning promoting his Warrior Open golf tournament, and talked about Iraq, and his brother Jeb’s chances of running for president in 2016.

While Obama doesn’t chat with Bush about Iraq, Bush said he’s not going to throw Obama under the bus concerning the troop removal in Iraq and the resulting instability.

“The president has to make the choices he thinks are important,” Bush said. “I’m not going to second guess our president. I understand how tough the job is. To have a former president bloviating and second-guessing is, I don’t think, good for the presidency or the country.”

And about those phone calls. Bush said while in office, he called former president Bill Clinton a few times a year, where they’d have extended chats. Why would the Republican president call his Democratic predecessor?

“Because he was president and he had seen things I hadn’t seen yet,” Bush said. “We both shared the same experiences and I wanted to get his take on it.”

Bush said other than a call from Obama to let him know Bin Laden was dead, Obama doesn’t call “on a regular basis,” but it “doesn’t hurt my feelings.”

And what about the speculation that his brother, Jeb, will run fo president in 2016?

“I think he wants to be president, I think he’d be a great president. He understands what it’s like to be president,” Bush said. “He’s seen his dad, he’s seen his brother. He’s a very thoughtful man and he’s weighing his options.”
