WASHINGTON (AP) — House Speaker John Boehner says President Barack Obama is “damaging the presidency itself” with his unilateral action on immigration and says the House will not stand idle and let it happen.

But the Ohio Republican offers no hint of what steps the House might take to block Obama’s move to offer deportation relief and work permits to 5 million immigrants in the country illegally.
Boehner spoke at a news conference Friday, the morning after Obama delivered his landmark announcement from the White House.
Boehner disputes criticism that Obama had to act because House Republicans never delivered an immigration reform bill. He says it was Obama’s fault for creating an atmosphere where lawmakers didn’t trust him and couldn’t work with him.
