Boehner: I tried to put lipstick on a pig and it still was a pig

After David Jolly won Tuesday’s hotly-contested election in Florida to succeed late-Republican Rep. C.W. Bill Young, Speaker John Boehner enjoyed some bragging rights, while also taking some shots at the economy and Obamacare.

“I’ve stood here after losing some special elections,” Boehner said. “I’ve tried to put lipstick on a pig, and it was still a pig. So you can bet they’ll try to put lipstick on it today but you all know what the facts are.”

On Wednesday afternoon, the White House said Obamacare is not to blame for Jolly’s win.
