Zeituni Onyango, Obama's controversial aunt, dies

Zeituni Onyango, President Barack Obama’s aunt who fought deportation has died, Boston’s WCVB.com reports. The office of Onyango’s immigration lawyer, Margaret Wong, confirmed her death.

Onyango, 61, was in a rehabilitation and being treated for cancer and respiratory ailments.

After her request for asylum was denied in 2002, she was ordered to be deported in 2004, but didn’t leave the United States and continued to live in Boston’s public housing. She was eventually granted asylum in 2010.
