Democrats hope Sarah Palin connection sinks Joni Ernst in Iowa

The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee is hoping that one former politician will help sink a current one from the same party.

On Monday, it released an ad putting Republican Iowa state Sen. Joni Ernst and former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin together.

The ad features Ernst saying she’s “absolutely ecstatic” about Palin’s endorsement and that John McCain’s former running mate is someone “we need in our federal government.”

“Joni Ernst would be another tea party vote in the Senate. Ernst would privatize Social Security. She’d cut taxes for millionaires and eliminate the national minimum wage,” the ad says. “Palin. Ernst. Too extreme for Iowa.”

Ernst is squaring off against Rep. Bruce Braley for the Senate seat being vacated by Tom Harkin.

Both Ernst and Palin have a knack for grabbing headlines. Ernst has aired ads that show her shooting a gun to “unload on Obamacare,” and then there also was her “castrating hogs” ad.

Palin, on the other hand, has so many things to say that in a poll, Americans said it’s time for her to stop talking.
