SPRINGFIELD — On his first full day on the job, Gov. Bruce Rauner is scheduled to sign an executive order on ethics.
Rauner made reference to the move in his inaugural address on Monday, saying the order would focus on the executive branch of government.
A notice from the governor’s office on Tuesday says the order is “focused on improving ethics and accountability in the executive branch of Illinois.”
Pat Quinn on Monday signed a pair of executive orders on his way out the door, including one requiring that the governor release full tax returns, including supporting documents and schedules. Quinn also signed an order increasing the minimum wage to state contractors from $8.25 to $10 an hour.
Rauner ran on a platform that he would “shake up Springfield” and on Monday vowed that the old way of doing business in Illinois was over.
Rauner is expected to take press questions at the news conference.
Also on Tuesday, legislative leaders in both the Illinois House and Illinois Senate plan to meet for a leadership meeting in advance of the next general assembly being sworn in.
