Man dead in West Side shooting

A man died after he was shot early Tuesday in the West Side Humboldt Park neighborhood.

Officers responding to a call of a person shot in the 600 block of North Ridgeway about 3:20 a.m. found Shandel Adams, 25, on the sidewalk with a gunshot wound to the chest, according to police and the Cook County Medical examiner’s office.

Adams, of the 5400 block of West Van Buren, was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 4:17 a.m., the medical examiner’s office said.

Police said the man was a documented gang member.
