One dead, three others wounded in West Garfield Park shooting

A man died and three others were wounded in a shooting early Saturday in the West Garfield Park neighborhood.

About 1:10 a.m., the group was at a party in the 4400 block of West Madison, police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro said. One of the people shot got into an argument with a man who later pulled out a handgun and opened fire, striking four people, Alfaro said.

A 22-year-old man — identified as Eddie Taylor of the 1900 block of South Homan — was shot in the face and pronounced dead at the scene at 1:35 a.m., according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

A 20-year-old woman was also in critical condition at Stroger Hospital after she suffered multiple gunshot wounds, Alfaro said.

A second woman, 20, was shot in the buttocks and was also taken to Stroger Hospital where her condition had stabilized. The fourth person — an 18-year-old man — was shot in the lower back and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where his condition had stabilized, Alfaro said.
