No charges filed after sexual assault reported at Dominican University

(RIVER FOREST) No charges will be filed in connection with an alleged sexual assault Saturday at Dominican University in west suburban River Forest.

The incident was reported following an underage drinking party in a dormitory on Dominican’s main campus at 7900 W. Division, River Forest Police Deputy Chief James O’Shea said. The victim was treated and released from a nearby hospital.

Police spoke to witnesses and identified a person of interest, who turned himself in to police Monday afternoon.

But after conducting “numerous interviews of witnesses, the victim, and a person of interest,” the Cook County state’s attorney’s felony review unit determined no criminal charges will be filed, according to a statement from police.

The man was released from custody late Monday night, police said.

Any further investigation will be conducted by the university, police said.
