Man killed in Chicago Heights shooting

(CHICAGO HEIGHTS) A man was found shot to death early Tuesday in south suburban Chicago Heights.

Julio Quiroz, 22, was shot in the 1200 block of Peggy Lane in Chicago Heights, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Police responded to a call of shots fired and found the man unresponsive about 1 a.m., Chicago Heights Police Sgt. Mikal Elamin said.

Quiroz, who lived on the same block where he was shot, was dead at the scene, according to the medical examiner’s office. An autopsy Wednesday found Quiroz died of a gunshot wound to the torso and ruled his death a homicide.

No one is in custody as police continue to investigate, Elamin said.
