When formerly Chicago-based actress Allison Tolman got a phone call informing her she’d landed the role of Minnesota police deputy Molly Solverson on FX’s critically acclaimed mini-series “Fargo,” she was standing outside her $11-an-hour temp job.

Along with a short Q&A, the Hollywood Reporter posted part of the audition tape that snared the recent Emmy nominee her first big-time gig — one that has proved to be career- and life-changing.
