Man takes himself to hospital after Belmont Cragin shooting

A man was shot in the Belmont Cragin neighborhood on the Northwest Side on Friday afternoon.

The 18-year-old was walking in the 2400 block of North Laramie about 3 p.m. when he was shot in the arm, police News Affairs Officer Thomas Sweeney said, citing preliminary information.

He took himself to West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park, where he was listed in good condition.

Police said the man has documented gang ties.
