State child welfare officials are investigating the parents of a 2-month-old boy who died Monday evening at his home in the South Side Avalon Park neighborhood.

Able Jackson was pronounced dead at his home in the 7800 block of South Kenwood at 5:34 p.m., according the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

The infant was found unresponsive by his parents after he was put down for a nap, police said.

The state Department of Children and Family Services is investigating the boy’s parents in connection with his death, spokeswoman Veronica Resa said. The agency has not had prior contact with the family.

Another child in the family has been placed under a DCFS-monitored safety plan, Resa said.

An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday.
