SHARE 60-year-old Evanston woman fatally struck by vehicle

(EVANSTON) A 60-year-old woman died after she was struck by a car Tuesday night in at an intersection in north suburban Evanston.

A vehicle heading eastbound on Lake Street stopped at Oak Street and waited for a vehicle to cross northbound, then went through the intersection, striking the woman about 7 p.m., according to Evanston police.

Juili Anne Meurice, of the 1200 block of Ridge in Evanston, was taken to Evanston Hospital where she was pronounced dead at 8:57 a.m. Wednesday, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

The driver of the vehicle, a 56-year-old Skokie woman, said she did not see the woman until she hit her, police said. She showed no signs of impairment or distraction, police said.

The Major Crash Assistance Team is investigating whether the woman was walking inside the crosswalk at the time of the crash.

No charges or citations had been filed as of Wednesday morning.
