(NORTH RIVERSIDE) Firefighters battled a blaze early Wednesday at west suburban North Riverside Park Mall.

The fire started about 4:15 a.m. at the Carson’s department store in the mall at 7501 W. Cermak Rd., according to officials with the North Riverside Fire Department.

The fire was upgraded to a box alarm, fire officials said. It was not immediately known whether anyone was injured.

As of 6:50 a.m., firefighters were still at the scene, but the blaze was under control, fire officials said.
