Sun-Times Picks: Vikings at Bears

SHARE Sun-Times Picks: Vikings at Bears

The Sun-Times experts offer the picks for the Bears-Vikings matchup at Soldier Field in Week 11.

RICK MORRISSEY

Vikings 21-17

It’s impossible to see how the Bears turn things around after the turmoil and awful football of the past several weeks. So let’s not even try. Season: 4-5

RICK TELANDER

Bears 24-23

If the Bears lose this game, they should schedule Northwestern next. Marc Trestman should start drinking, Jay Cutler should retire, Brandon Marshall should become a sideline reporter, Mel Tucker should sell shoes, and the McCaskeys should crawl, as a group, to Lourdes. (By the way, Morrissey is so wounded, he can only write 26 words. Poor lad!) Season: 4-5

ADAM L. JAHNS

Vikings 23-20

The joke was on me after picking the Bears last week, considering quarterback Aaron Rodgers and Co. were giggling like schoolgirls throughout their blowout win. The Vikings are a far cry from the Packers and Patriots, but they’re playing well enough right now to beat the confidence-drained Bears. That said, I’ll only pick the Bears again after they win. Season: 3-6

MARK POTASH

Bears 27-20

Though the Bears are coming off back-to-back embarrassing losses, they often are at their three-phase best at home vs. the Vikings, averaging 34.8 points with 24 touchdowns — 20 offensive, two defensive and two special teams — in six consecutive victories at Soldier Field. With numbers like that, what can go wrong? Season: 5-4

PATRICK FINLEY

Bears 27-20

Only two teams in the NFC have scored fewer points than the Vikings. (See you next week, too, Buccaneers). When Marc Trestman said the Bears must play the way they did against the 49ers, Jets and Falcons, what goes unsaid is this: like those three, the Vikings aren’t very good. Season: 3-6

HUB ARKUSH

Vikings 24-20

I’ve got some bad news people. Among the Dolphins, Patriots, Packers and Vikings, Minnesota is probably playing the best defense right now. The good news is there’s nothing scary about the Vikings offense. The bottom line, though, is until the Bears actually show up for a game and compete again I can’t pick them to beat anyone. Season: 5-4
