Peter Regin sent to Rockford by Blackhawks

Daniel Carcillo is back, and that means Peter Regin is headed to Rockford.

With Carcillo returning Sunday night against the Dallas Stars, the Blackhawks on Saturday assigned Regin to the IceHogs. Regin, 28, had one assist in four games with the Hawks since his Nov. 6 recall.

“Well, we’ll get (Carcillo) back in the lineup and (that’s our) 12 forwards for tomorrow. That’s kind of where it was at,” coach Joel Quenneville said. “He didn’t play bad. He was all right. He got off to a decent start down there as well, so tough when you say that, but numbers are part of it.”

Later Saturday, the Blackhawks recalled Joakim Nordstrom from the IceHogs, giving them 13 forwards on the roster. Nordstrom, who was serving as Rockford’s captain, has eight points in 14 AHL games this season.

He broke camp with the Hawks last season and had a goal and two assists in 16 regular-season games before appearing in seven postseason contests.
