A teenage boy was shot in the back Wednesday morning in the South Side Washington Park neighborhood.

The 17-year-old was standing on the sidewalk in the 6200 block of South King Drive about 9:30 a.m. when he “heard shots and felt pain,” police said.

He was shot in the lower back and taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where his condition had stabilized, police said.
