Auguste has 21 points, leads Notre Dame past Coppin State

Zach Auguste had 21 points and grabbed seven rebounds, and V.J. Beachem scored 19 to help Notre Dame beat Coppin State 104-67 on Wednesday night.

Auguste was perfect from the field, hitting 9 of 9 shots, and 3 of 3 from the line.

Jerian Grant added 15 points, Martinas Geben had 12 and Demetrius Jackson finished with 10 for Notre Dame (3-0).

Arnold Fripp led Coppin State (0-3) with 14 points. Sterling Smith added 12 and Taariq Cephas had 11.

The Irish jumped out to a 19-2 lead over the first 3:47, including two 3’s by Steve Vasturia.

Coppin State, a Baltimore school out of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference in its first-ever meeting with Notre Dame, shot just 37 percent from the field and were out-rebounded 44-25.
