JOLIET – Taquan Sims has that scorer’s mentality.

When he gets it going, he wants the ball and feels it is going in.

“It’s like throwing a rock in the ocean,” the Joliet Central junior said Monday night after he scored eight points in a 10-0 run over the final 2 minutes 7 seconds as the Steelmen rallied to beat Plainfield Central, 59-57, in one of most exciting opening-night games in the history of the WJOL Thanksgiving Classic at University of St Francis.
