Dominant first quarter, depth propel Notre Dame team past Evanston

There are fleeting stretches in basketball when everything goes perfect for a team — when it executes its defensive game plan flawlessly, controls the boards and knocks down shots.

The Notre Dame boys basketball team experienced one of those stretches at Lane on Friday night. It happened in the first quarter of its 65-50 victory over Evanston in the Battle of the Bridge Tournament championship game.
