One killed in Little Village shooting

A man was shot in the face and killed Friday night in the Little Village neighborhood on the Southwest Side.

Oscar Garcia, 18, was standing in the street about 11 p.m. in the 2500 block of South Central Park, when another male walked up, yelled gang slogans and opened fire, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Garcia, of the 2800 block of South Millard, was shot beneath his right eye and was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.

An autopsy on Saturday found that he died of a gunshot wound to the head and his death was ruled a homicide.

Police did not have an update on the investigation late Sunday.
