Amanda Bynes admits she’s bipolar

Actress and aspiring fashion designer Amanda Bynes turned to social media Tuesday to finally confirm something many others have long known — she has serious psychological problems.

Bynes sent out her confession on Twitter, acknowledging she’s bipolar and manic depressive. The tweets were posted a few days after Bynes was released from a psychiatric facility.

In her tweets, Bynes wrote, “I need to get an apartment and my parents won’t give me access to any of my funds. I was diagnosed bi-polar and manic depressive so I’m on medication and I’m seeing my psychologist and psychiatrist weekly so I’m fine :D.”

The actress went on to write, “I’m not living with my parents. I’m not legally obligated to. My lawyer said if I comply with the courts and take my meds and see my psychologist and psychiatrist weekly then I will get unconserved. Thank GOD.”

Since she was released from that psychiatric facility last Thursday, Bynes had been observed wandering aimlessly on the streets of Los Angeles and verbally attacked her parents, who have retained a legal conservatorship over their daughter’s finances and affairs. Among Bynes’ charges are her repeated claims her father had sexually abused her — a claim she once retracted and blamed on a “chip” in her brain.

Bynes was initially hospitalized on a 5150 (involuntary) psychiatric hold in October following the re-emergence of the erratic behavior that has plagued much of her last two years.
