Teen shot to death in Maywood

(MAYWOOD) A 17-year-old boy was fatally shot Wednesday evening in west suburban Maywood.

Police received reports of shots fired near 6th and Quincy avenues about 7:30 p.m. and dispatched officers to investigate, Maywood police spokesman Officer Pirsia Allen said.

Upon searching the area, the officers found 17-year-old Calvin Henry near 7th Avenue and the Illinois Prairie Path with a gunshot wound to his chest, authorities said.

Henry, of the 0-100 block of South 21st Avenue in Maywood, was pronounced dead at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood at 9:41 p.m., the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.

An autopsy Friday ruled his death a homicide, the medical examiner’s office said.
