1. Annie Seitelman’s first season as Geneva coach came to an end Tuesday in the Bartlett Sectional semifinals, but the Vikings’ future looks bright with sophomores Grace Loberg and Allyson Barrett leading a large group of returnees in 2015. “We had a great group of seniors this year and I feel very privileged taking over the program having such a great group of kids to work with,” Seitelman said. “And I am very excited that our sophomores will be back for a few more years.”

2. Plainfield North, which began playing varsity volleyball in 2006, won the program’s first sectional championship Thursday when it defeated rival Plainfield Central, 25-17, 23-25, 25-18, at the T.F. South Class 4A Sectional. The Tigers have won 18 of their last 19 matches thanks to an improved serve-receive. “We were really sloppy early in the season,” outside hitter Allie Lindroth said. ”We were still growing and maturing as a team. As soon as we fixed the serve-receive, it made our offense a bigger threat.”
