Construction to close roads in Park Ridge Monday

A portion of Busse Highway, where the road meets Touhy Avenue in northwest suburban Park Ridge, will be closed for construction, weather permitting, Monday at 8 a.m., the Illinois Department of Transportation said.

The following detours will occur:

  • Southeastern-bound traffic on Busse Highway will detour east onto Elm Street, continuing southeast to Northwest Highway and then west onto Touhy.
  • Northwestern-bound traffic on Busse Highway will detour east on to Touhy, continuing northwest to Northwest Highway and then south onto Greenwood Avenue and southeast onto Busse Highway.

Eastbound and westbound travel on Touhy will be reduced to single lanes and motorists will not have the ability to turn at Busse Highway, IDOT said.

The project will also remove and replace the pedestrian walkway at the Metra bridge, which is scheduled to be completed by Dec. 31.

Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area.
