Man wounded in West Side shooting

A man was hurt in a West Side shooting late Saturday in the Austin neighborhood.

The 28-year-old was riding in the front passenger seat of a car driving westbound on Chicago Avenue near the 800 block of North Latrobe about 11:45 p.m. when he heard shots and realized he had been struck in the right thigh, police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro said.

His friend drove him to West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park, where his condition was stabilized, Alfaro said.

Police said the shooting may have been gang-related.
