Man shot in Elgin

A man was shot early Sunday in northwest suburban Elgin.

About 12:40 a.m., police responded to the 300 block of Jewett Street for a report of several shots fired, according to a statement from the Elgin Police Department. A 24-year-old man was shot in the hand as he exited his vehicle to attend a party on the same block, police said.

He was taken to Presence Saint Joseph Hospital with a “non-life threatening injury,” police said.
