Services set for Joliet Catholic’s Matt Mammosser

Joliet Catholic has announced information for visitation and funeral services for junior football player Matt Mammosser, who died on Sunday after battling cancer. He was 18.

Visitation will be Thursday, May 31, from 3-8 p.m. at Joliet Catholic’s Student Activity Center and Friday, June 1, from 9-10:30 a.m.

Funeral services will be from Joliet Catholic to the Cathedral of St. Raymond, where a burial mass is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. on Friday, June 1.

Mammosser was a starting defensive tackle for the Hilltoppers’ Class 5A state runner-up team. According to a release issued by the school, he was diagnosed with primary nervous system metatastic melanoma, a form of brain cancer, on Jan. 3 and had been hospitalized since April 17.
