Legion Playoffs Opening Day

All the higher seeds won Tuesday, the first day of the Cook County American Legion baseball tournament.

Here are the results:

No. 1 Palatine 17, No. 8 Northbrook 11

No. 2 Arlington Heights 9, No. 7 Morton Grove 1

No. 3 Elk Grove 16, No. 6 Evanston 2

No. 4 Wilmette 19, No. 5 Glenview 8

(Correction: Seems as if I was wrong as Wilmette is listed as the No. 4 seed).

After Wednesday’s second wave of games at various local sites, which include two eliminate contests, the tournament heads to Arlington Heights’ Recreation Park on Thursday for the rest of the week. Thursday’s schedule includes games at noon, 3:30 p.m., 7 p.m. Friday’s two games are at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday’s final is 11 a.m. If necessary, the second game is scheduled for 2:15 p.m.
